Kate first started learning about invasive plants which eventually led her to native plants and their importance to biodiversity. She has a B.Sc. in Environmental Science from the University of Alberta, her Master Gardener and Permaculture Design Certificates and is a Master Composter with the City of Edmonton. She has worked on environmental legislation at both federal and provincial levels of government.

Kate has been an active volunteer with the ENPS for over ten years and previously held the roles of secretary and president.
