ENPS had an information table at this family-friendly event in St. Albert on September 21.
Clean and Green Riverfest is a community event intended to increase wildlife habitat along the Sturgeon River, and showcases a number of environmental organizations. ENPS volunteers Mary-Jo Gurba-Flanagan, Patrick Kyle, Vanessa McKay, and Aaron Vansevenandt staffed the ENPS table, at which we had many useful interactions with members of the public, and sold packages of our native-plant seeds. This year's event saw over 700 attendees, with many family, community, school and sports groups participating and working to clean up the Sturgeon River and Red Willow Park. Participants picked up litter and also planted native trees and shrubs. There was free food and drinks, sunglasses, flower-seeds, craft activities, a ride above the trees in an arborist tree bucket, and live music. ENPS was very pleased with the attendance at their booth and with the contacts made with other like-minded organizations.
