On October 12, ENPS helped the Edmonton Valley Zoo celebrate World Migratory Bird Day.
Four ENPS volunteers manned our information table: Liz DeLeeuw, Vanessa McKay, Manna Parseyan and Kate Spencer. Other environmental organizations present included Nature Alberta and the Alberta Native Bee Council. The theme of the event this year was the relationship between insects and birds, and ENPS participated with a table showing how native plants support insects, which in turn feed birds, as well as being a source of fruits and grains for them. This is our second attendance at this annual Zoo event, and we have determined that for events at the Zoo we need to develop some kid-friendly material and activities! Any volunteers interested in helping out in this regard?
