Getting a Headstart on Seeds

For those of you interested in starting your seed sowing now, or later in the season, Apache Seeds (10136 - 149 Street) will be open all winter and will be selling a selection of ENPS' seed packages. We expect that other garden stores, who normally sell our seeds, will resume selling them in the spring.

For information on seeds and how to deal with them, see Liz Deleeuw's article "Seeds: What’s the Story?", in the October 2023 issue of the Wildflower News:

For those of you who have collected your own seeds, we recommend cleaning them of superfluous material where feasible (for fleshy fruits, remove the flesh and make sure the extracted seeds are dry). Check for plump (viable) seeds and store them completely dry in a cool, dry place.

For long-term storage over years, seeds can be placed in small, plastic containers and stored in a freezer at -18C.
